Francis Soans, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, including laser procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Education and Medical Training
Dr. Soans completed medical school and internship at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, graduating in 1988. He then devoted 2 years to mission service, providing solo in-patient hospital care to an underserved rural population, before returning to St. John’s to complete a residency in Ophthalmology. In the U.S., Dr. Soans completed an internship in Internal Medicine and an Ophthalmology residency at UMDNJ-Cooper Hospital (joint program with Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia), also serving as Chief Resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Soans has been providing specialty glaucoma care since 2004. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and an active participant in the American Board of Ophthalmology’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
