Expertise

Dr. Omar Shoukfeh is a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon with expertise in cataract and glaucoma management. He performs cataract surgery using advanced technology intraocular lenses and offers a full spectrum of glaucoma treatments, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), iDose, and tube shunt surgery. His laser services include selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), yttrium-aluminum-garnet (YAG) laser procedures, and diode laser treatments.

Education and Medial Training

Dr. Shoukfeh completed his undergraduate training at Texas Tech University and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Cell & Molecular Biology. At Texas Tech, he was accepted to be a member of the Mortar Board, an award to the top 50 seniors campus-wide based on leadership, scholarship, and service. He subsequently obtained his medical degree at Texas Tech University. Dr. Shoukfeh completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, where he earned some of the highest board preparation scores in the country. He served as chief resident during his third year. He then obtained a glaucoma fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas where his surgical experience was near the top in the country. He is also in a very small minority of Ophthalmologists in the nation that can provide the full spectrum of minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries to their patients.

Personal Interests

On a personal note, Dr. Shoukfeh loves spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, and playing basketball. Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Shoukfeh believes it is an honor to take care of the people he knows and grew up with in West Texas, and he does not take that responsibility lightly.
