Eyelid Lift
An Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty), is the surgical correction of droopy, saggy or puffy upper and/or lower eyelids. They can make you appear tired or angry and add years to your appearance. Primarily a cosmetic procedure, for some it may be medically necessary in order to improve loss of peripheral vision. This procedure can be performed in conjunction to other non-surgical treatments to provide optimal results.
An Eyelid Lift is ideal for the correction of:
- Loose, sagging and/or folded upper eyelids that may limit vision
- Puffy fat deposits in the upper eyelids
- Under-eye bags
- Sagging lower eyelids that may show the white of the eyes below the iris
- Excess skin in the lower eyelids
- Fine wrinkles in the lower eyelids
How is Blepharoplasty performed?
Blepharoplasty can be performed on either the upper eyelids or the lower eyelids. An incision is made along the natural creases of the upper eyelids or from the inside surface of the lower eyelids. The extra skin and fat is removed, resulting in a brighter, more awake appearance. Patients are under local anesthesia, supplemented by a mild sedative, but it can also be performed under light sedation anesthesia. With either method, you will be quite comfortable during the procedure.
What is the downtime for Blepharoplasty?
Most patients are back to their normal routine within a few days, although complete recovery may take up to 2 to 3 weeks. Swelling, bruising and some discomfort are part of the recovery process and can usually be alleviated with cold compresses and a mild pain reliever.
